Dog jumps in raging river, saves kids from drowning

Hua Hua, a pet dog, jumped into a raging river and rescued three drowning children in Tianmen, Hubei province, on Sunday.

One of the kids, however, could not be saved.

The dog had accompanied the four friends, all students of a primary school in the Fangwan village, to a nearby riverbank.

The children fell into the river while playing on the rocks, following which, Hua Hua jumped in to save them.

Hua Hua grabbed one of the kids by the shoulder with its mouth, as the struggling children held on to each other's hands, and pulled them ashore.

The fourth kid drowned because he could not reach his friends in time when the dog was pulling them to safety.
