Guangxi official sentenced to 18-years in prison
Sun Yu

Former vice chairman of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region Sun Yu was given an 18-year prison sentence by the Nanning intermediate people’s court Monday for corruption and bribery.

The court determined Sun cheated four million yuan ($0.57 million) in state funds and took bribery money totaling 3.28 million yuan ($0.47 million) from 2003 to 2007 by taking advantage of his position. Most of the money has been recovered and a further one million yuan ($142,800) of his property will be confiscated.
