6 dead, 1 injured in NE China apartment fire

CHANGCHUN: Six people died and one was injured when a fire broke out in an apartment in northeast China's Jilin Province Thursday morning, local authorities said.

The fire broke out at about 6:30 am in Room 103, Building 21 of a senior citizens' apartment in Xi'an District, Liaoyuan City. Four men and two women died in the fire. Another man was injured, a municipal government official said.

The fire was put out quickly, he said. The identities of the victims have not yet been released.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
