NANCHANG: Jiangxi Province in east China is building a database for those who have been freed after their prison terms, and the database will go into trial operation in August.

The database is a new effort to prevent these people from committing crimes again, an official from the provincial justice department said.

It covers detailed information about the emancipists, such as their identification, social connections, penalty details, and the official assessment on their performances in prison.

The information will be accessible to local judicial offices across the province, where the emancipists' accommodation is registered. It is expected to help communities and potential employers trace the information on former prisoners.
