Chongqing: A bomb threat at the Nanping bus station in Nan'an District of southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, led to the evacuation of 100,000 nearby residents, Xinhua reported Friday. The station is a major transportation hub for the city.

An unidentified man called the police at 8:30 am and announced that a bomb would explode there in half an hour, and then hung up. 300 policemen, including bomb-disposal members, were dispatched to search the station and coordinate the evacuation. By 11:00 am, however nothing suspicious was found.

An unidentified government official told Xinhua that it was probably a fake bomb threat, and the local police are still investigating the incident.
