SHIJIAZHUANG -- Eight people were killed and six others injured in an iron mine explosion in north China's Hebei Province Saturday morning.

Hebei Iron and Steel Group Mining Co Ltd said the accident took place at Shirengou Mine, an iron mining pit based in Zunhua City, Hebei, around 11 am Saturday.

No other details, including how many miners were working in the iron pit when the explosion happened, are available at this time.
