Leading news anchorwoman for China Central Television (CCTV), Xing Zhibin, has formally retired from her office.

An inside source with CCTV confirmed on Wednesday that 61 year old Xing's retirement application was officially accepted by CCTV in early July.

Xing first became an anchorwoman of CCTV's prime time news program -- "Xinwen Lianbo" -- in 1981.

The source adds Xing will continue to work as voice-overs for some other important broadcasts even if she has retired.
