URUMQI: Three people were electrocuted in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, local police said Saturday.

The accident happened as the owner of a dump truck and a driver were washing the vehicle just before 9 p.m. Friday in a river in Yining County, Yili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture.

They raised part of the truck, which struck a high-voltage transmission line overhead. The current killed the two and was so intense that it also passed through a second truck just meters away that was also being washed, killing a third person.
