Newlyweds fined after wedding guest die

A newly married couple was ordered to pay 20,000 yuan ($2,926) to the family of a friend who died from drinking too much white liquor at their wedding ceremony in Kaifeng, Henan province.

The bridegroom surnamed An and his bride were dragged to court by the parents of their friend surnamed Zhang.

Zhang's parents asked the defendant to pay 80,000 yuan.

The city's Tongxian county people's court ruled that Zhang was partly to blame for drinking so much.
