Power station chimney collapse kills 12, injures 11

TIANJIN - Twelve workers died and 11 were injured Monday when a chimney core collapsed at a power station in north China's Tianjin city, the municipal government announced Tuesday.

The accident occurred at 8:15 pm when workers were trying to install an inner core of a chimney in the station run by Tianjin Bohua Yongli Thermo-Electricity Co. Ltd..

All the injured were stable and out of danger.

The State Administration of Work Safety has begun an investigation into the cause of the accident.

The company is located in Lingang industrial zone of Tianjin.
