Five killed in S China burglary

NANNING -- Five people were killed and two were injured during a burglary on Friday in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, police said.

The indoor robbery happened between 4 and 5 p.m. Friday in Sicheng Town of Lingyun County, Baise City, Guangxi, police said.

An initial investigation showed the burglary-homicide involving three suspects, all male, police said.

As of 10 p.m., one suspect had been detained while the other two were at large, including one nicknamed Lao'er (literally Number Two), around 30 years old; and the other surnamed Liu, police said, giving no detail about the detained.

The burglary happened in a home and the victims include one family with three members and four other guests, police said.

The family and two guests were killed and the other two guests were injured, police said.

The owner of the home was surnamed Huang. He was known to be wealthy, with assets of more than ten million yuan (US$1.5 million), said a neighbour of the victims who refused to be named.

Further investigation is underway and the police are searching for the two suspects.
