7 dead, over 30 injured in south China traffic accident

HAIKOU -- Seven people died and more than 30 others were injured after two vehicles collided in south China's Hainan province Sunday afternoon, police said.

The accident happened at around 4 pm on a highway in Ding'an County when a car with 7 people on board and a bus with around 30 passengers collided head-on, the provincial traffic police said.

Six out of seven people on the car died at the scene and the other one on it died on the way to hospital.

Around 30 passengers on the bus were injured and sent to the Ding'an County People's Hospital. Chen Haixiong, deputy magistrate of Ding'an County, said five of the injured were still in the hospital and the other slightly injured have been discharged after treatment.

The hospitalized had no life dangers. The cause of the accident is still being investigated.
