Police seize 90m fake RMB notes in Guangdong

Police in Huizhou, Guangdong province seized fake renminbi notes worth 90 million yuan (US$13.17 million) Tuesday afternoon.

According to Huizhou police, of the 12 suspects, nine were busted in the place where the counterfeit notes were produced, one was caught in Guangzhou, and two were in Huilai county, Jieyang city, Guangdong on Tuesday.

All the equipment used to make fake notes, including the printing machine and paper cutters were confiscated.

Not a single fake note produced by this gang has been released into market due to the authorities’ swift actions, according to police. The case is now under investigation.

In 2005, police destroyed a counterfeit-money-making factory hidden in a mountain in Huizhou and seized 62 million yuan worth of fake renminbi notes.
