Hu vows to enhance ties with Africa

In an earlier visit to Tanzania, Hu Jintao attended a welcoming rally.

In a speech at the rally, Hu Jintao vowed to enhance ties with Africa.

Chinese President Hu Jintao said, " The friendship between China and Africa has lasted for half a century. Similar histories and goals connect us strongly. I reiterate that the Chinese people will forever cherish the traditional friendship with the African people. The Chinese people will continue to regard the African people as their trustworthy and reliable friends. We will be brothers and friends forever! "

Hu Jintao called on China and Africa to enhance mutual trust and political, economic, and cultural ties. He said China is ready to enhance coordination with Africa in promoting the development of the agreements laid out in the 2006 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

Tanzanian President, Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, said China continuously and unconditionally supports Tanzania and other African nations in need.

He said Tanzania plans to deepen cooperation between the two countries.
