Blast kills 13 in central China

ZHENGZHOU -- At least 13 people were killed and other five injured after a blast took place in a village of central China's Henan Province Saturday, the local work safety watchdog said.

The explosion occurred at about 1:12 a.m. in Donggancheng Village of Puyang city, northeast of Henan, the provincial work safety supervision administration said.

Initial investigation shows that some explosives for civilian use had went off.

Rescue operation is in full swing.
