China culls poultry after finding bird flu virus

BEIJING -- Agricultural authorities in China have culled 377,000 fowls after finding bird flu virus in east China's Jiangsu Province, the agriculture ministry said Tuesday.

The deadly H5N1 strain of the virus was discovered in Dongtai city and Hai'an county in Jiangsu, the ministry said in a statement posted on its website.

No outbreat of the bird flu was reported in the counties, the ministry said.
