XI'AN -- Six college students were stabbed by a classmate during a fight at Weinan Technical College on Monday in northwest China's Shaanxi Province, local police said Wednesday.

The suspect, surnamed Cheng, was blamed by her classmate, surnamed Tian, for knocking on her dormitory door too loudly last Wednesday. The two women got in to a verbal argument.

Weinan City police said the fight escalated when Tian made telephone threats to Cheng on Friday.

Then on Monday, Tian allegedly led a group of girls to beat up Cheng in her dorm room. Police said Cheng took out a knife during the fight and stabbed six girls, including Tian.

Five are in stable condition. One girl, surnamed Liu, lost a lot of blood and is in serious condition at Central Hospital of Weinan City.

Cheng was also wounded by the knife in the fight. She was arrested on her way to the hospital. Police say she is ok.

No word yet on any charges.
