Three dead, 6 missing after bus falls into river

KUNMING  -- A total of three people died and six are missing after a bus fell into a river in southwest China's Yunnan Province, an official said on Friday.

The bus with 19 people aboard hit road guard piers and fell into the Honghe river at around 1:55 p.m. Thursday while travelling from Yuanyang County to Gejiu City, said Nong Yurun, the Gejiu City Work Safety Administration director.

Ten were rescued. Three were retrieved dead, said Nong.

Rescuers are searching for the missing passengers.

The bus was not overloaded. The cause of the accident is still being investigated.
