Beauty parlor fire kills 8 in N China city

SHIJIAZHUANG - A fire broke out in a beauty parlor at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday in Tangshan City, north China's Hebei Province killing eight people, said the police sources.

Fire fighters put out the fire at 5:30 a.m.

There were 11 shop staff sleeping at the Xiulizi Beauty Parlor, including the shop's juridical person Liu Di, when the fire broke out.

Only three staff including Liu managed to escape. Four people died in the fire, and four others died on the way to hospital.

An initial investigation found that the fire was ignited by short circuit of electrical appliances. Police has put Liu in custody for further investigation.

The government has ordered a safety check throughout the city.
