A 40-year-old man surnamed Shen became very angry when he learned that his son, a junior high school student, had been feeding him sleeping pills so he could surf the Internet at night in Zhengzhou, capital of Henan province.

Neighborhood security guards had to stop Shen from beating his son when they came upon the feuding family during a patrol along the city's Huayuan Road at about 2:15 am on Thursday

Shen was chasing his son down the street after he discovered the boy's scheme.

The son had admitted to putting a sleeping pill in his father's tea mug every evening before he went to bed, ensuring that his father slept too soundly to catch him sneaking out. Shen did not allow his son to surf the Net after midnight and his wife was working on the night shift.
