Chinese shares pulled down by weak blue chips(Xinhua)
Updated: 2008-03-04 16:04 BEIJING - Chinese shares dropped 2.32 percent on Tuesday, as heavy weight stocks weakened on declining surrounding markets, analysts said. The drop ended a major rise on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 102.82 points to close at 4,335.45. The Shenzhen Component Index, which covers both A and B shares, closed at 15,746.23 Tuesday, down 441.28 points, or 2.73 percent, from the previous close. Despite the drop, the combined turnover further increased to 203.7 billion yuan from 184 billion yuan on Monday.
