BEIJING - Members of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) began arriving in Beijing on Thursday to attend the annual full session of the country's top political advisory body.

At 6:00 a.m., some people from northeast China's Jilin Province arrived at the Beijing Railway Station aboard passenger train Z62, becoming the first group of CPPCC National Committee members from outside Beijing to attend the CPPCC session.

"All of us are newly elected (CPPCC National Committee) members," said Lin Yanzhi, vice chairman of the CPPCC Jilin Provincial Committee. "We are in high spirits and enthusiastic about participating in political affairs." He noted that many would submit proposals at the session.

On the same day, CPPCC National Committee members from Hubei, Jiangxi, Shaanxi and Anhui provinces and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region arrived in Beijing either by train or by air.

The session is scheduled to open on March 3, which will be attended by more than 2,200 CPPCC National Committee members from 34 delegations grouped by varied social sectors.

Song Yuying, chairwoman of the CPPCC Hubei Provincial Committee, said she had prepared three proposals, which cover a cross-country water diversion project, the revision of laws and regulations regarding public bidding in construction projects, and the research and succession of the Chu Culture in the central and eastern parts of ancient China.

Ma Zhiwu, a CPPCC National Committee member from Jiangxi Province, said he had paid much attention to rural development, disaster prevention and reduction, minority ethnic groups, and housing for transient workers from the countryside.
