TIANJIN -- An oil tank went off in a gas station in Tianjin on Thursday, leaving four people injured.

The blast took place around noon time in an outlet of China National Petroleum Corporation (PetroChina) in the western suburb of Tianjin.

The strong shockwave threw the huge tank about 100 meters away and two oil trucks parking nearby caught fire.

Witnesses said four people who were slightly injured in the accident have been hospitalized.

Causes of the accident are under investigation.

In another gas station blast in Shanghai on November 24, four people were killed and more than 30 were injured.

Investigation blamed the accident to improper maintenance practices at the station.
