A jealous mistress hacked into a telecom company's website to check how often her lover talked to his wife. She was fined HK$4,000 in a Hong Kong court, on Wednesday.

The defendant, a 34-year-old housewife surnamed Zau, pretended in May to be a salesperson and tricked her lover's wife into revealing her identity card number. Then she used the identity card number to access her cellphone account.

Seeing from the phone records that the couple talked more often and longer than her lover had told her, the jealous Zau started to harass the man's wife.

Police discovered Zau had illegally accessed the website accounts after they investigated the problem calls.
