A well-preserved mummy was found recently in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and its identity is being verified.

Experts from the Xinjiang heritage protection department said the mummy has distinct facial contours. "The mummy is of a person about 40 years old and bears typical characteristics of the Western European Celtic.

"It is well protected because it has been buried in the dry desert environment," experts said. DNA samples of the find have been taken for further tests.
