Jordanian king starts China tour(Xinhua)
Updated: 2007-10-29 16:39 BEIJING - Jordanian King Abdullah II Bin Al-Hussein arrived here on Monday, kicking off a four-day state visit to China as guest of Chinese President Hu Jintao. During Abdullah's stay in China, Hu will hold talks with him, and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao will meet him. Abdullah will also attend a reception celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Jordan, and the first meeting of a bilateral strategic dialogue held in Beijing. Beside the capital Beijing, Abdullah will visit the commercial hub Shanghai, where he is scheduled to attend a China-Jordan trade forum. This is Abdullah's fifth Beijing tour since he succeeded to the throne in 1999. Prior to his visit to China, Abdullah said that with Jordan-China relations becoming warmer and deeper in almost every aspects, his visit would "result in a couple of new agreements that reflect the momentum in our relationship". China is currently Jordan's third largest foreign trade partner, with bilateral business transactions reaching US$1.031 billion in 2006. |
