Fifty-five military observers from 35 countries are in Northeast China to observe an annual military exercise at the invitation of Chinese Ministry of Defense.

The Warrior 2007 drill is a live ammunition exercise conducted by a motorized infantry division at the Taonan Training Base under the Shenyang Military Area Command of the People's Liberation Army (PLA).

PLA Deputy Chief of Staff Senior General Liu Zhengwu told the observers that the invitation showed the sincere wish of China to increase exchanges, cooperation and mutual understanding with foreign armed forces.

The observers included officers from Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and ASEAN member countries, the United States, Britain, and France, and foreign military attaches in China.

On Monday, they visited the PLA's Academy of Armored Forces Engineering where they saw armored equipment, a training field for armored vehicles, an armored battle simulation center, and barrack rooms.
