The Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) will hold its 19th meeting in late-October following the opening of the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The decision was made at the 47th chairman and vice-chairmen meeting of the CPPCC National Committee in Beijing on Wednesday, presided over by Chairman Jia Qinglin, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee.

The main agenda of the 19th meeting of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee is proposed to be studying the guidelines of the Party Congress.

To study well and implement the guidelines of the 17th CPC National Congress is a major political task for the CPPCC, said leaders of the CPPCC National Committee.

The Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee has proposed that the 17th Party Congress open on October 15. The date will be finalized at a meeting of the CPC Central Committee to open on October 9.

At Wednesday's meeting, CPPCC leaders also heard a report on Jia's recent visit to Japan, read by secretary general Zheng Wantong.
