Electric bike blast kills one, injures five in Hunan

CHANGSHA -- An electric bike blast killed a 35-year-old rider and injured five other people in Zhuzhou city of Hunan Province on Wednesday, police and witnesses said.

The blast happened at about 6 p.m. when the unidentified man rode his electric bike through the Jianshe Nanlu Road in downtown area, witnesses said.

Five people were injured, and two of them who suffered serious injuries were rushed to hospital, police said.

More than 200 police officers were dispatched to the site. Initial investigation showed that the blast was triggered by explosives placed on the bike.

The identity of the victims was not immediately known.
