Six dead in Xinjiang truck, tractor collision

URUMQI - Six people were confirmed dead and four others injured after a truck hit a tractor on a highway in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Tuesday, local police said.

The container truck hit the four-wheel tractor from behind at around 5:40 am at 1,035 km of state highway No 314, said a traffic police officer in the city of Aksu.

He said the site of the accident is in Aksu's rural town of Ayikule. Five of the six dead were women.

The police has launched an investigation and the injured people are being treated at a hospital in Aksu.
