East China's Anhui Province will auction off jewelry, wine and works of art seized from corruption cases, local authorities said on Thursday.

More than 1,000 corruption-related items, with the potential market value of 2 million yuan (US$266,000), will be on display for the public and auction off August 16-19, said the authorities.

The booties have been confiscated from nearly 20 officials of provincial and city government departments as well as State-owned corporations.

The articles to be auctioned include jewelries, electronic machines, wines, clothes, works of art and calligraphy, souvenirs as well as other goods of value.

Officials said money collected from the auction will go directly to the State treasury.

In January this year, an auction of 676 articles gained by disgraced officials in Anhui Province raised nearly 4 million yuan.
