A fast running cargo truck killed four pedestrians and injured two others who were crossing a street in downtown Harbin, capital of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, on Sunday morning.

Witnesses said the six pedestrians were passing through the Red Flag Street near the Tongxiang shop at about 9:15 a.m. when a speedy cargo truck bumped into them and killed four on the spot. Two others were injured, one seriously, and were rushed to hospital.

Local residents complained that vehicles have been speedy on this street and there should have been traffic lights at the accident spot. Traffic on the street resumed more than an hour later.

Cause of the accident in being investigated.
