Couple wanted for organizing teenage prostitutes

A couple from China's southwestern Guizhou Province has been on the most wanted list for allegedly forcing teenage girls to provide sexual services, state media reported on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Public Security has issued Class-A warrants for the arrest of Chi Yao, 25, and Zhao Qingmei, 28, who are suspected of ¡¯organizing and forcing teenage students from primary and middle schools to work as prostitutes in the regions of Liupanshui and Bijie,¡¯ Xinhua News Agency said on its website www.xinhua.org.

Both of them are on the run.

A cash reward of 100,000 yuan (US$13,213) will b given for any information leading to the arrest of Chi and Zhao.

The report did not provide details on the number of teenage girls manipulated by the couple and how they managed to organize the illegal business.

Guizhou is one of the most impoverished provinces in China and its Gross Domestic Product per capita stood at only 4,893 yuan (US$646) in 2005, compared to 26,134 yuan (US$3,453) in Guangdong Province.
