Detonator blasts kill six, injures six in C. China

ZHENGZHOU -- Six people were killed and another six injured in three detonator blast accidents in Sunday and Monday in central China's Henan Province, sources with the local government said on Wednesday.

The first tragedy occurred at about 10 a.m. Sunday when villagers of Dali Village in Taiqian County were making detonators in a residential building. The blast killed two on the spot and destroyed two houses.

The second blast occurred two hours later in Zhumadian City when several local residents were making detonators in Sangwang Village. Two people were killed and three others injured in the accident.

The third, killing two and injuring three, took place at 7:00 p.m. Monday when the five people were making detonators in an underground factory in Yancunpu township of Fanxian County.

The local public security bureau and work safety watchdog have started to investigate the accidents.
