BENXI, Liaoning province -- Nine people were killed and six injured when a factory's main workshop, which was under construction, collapsed in northeast China's Liaoning Province on Thursday, according to local authorities.

The accident occurred at about 5:50 p.m. on Thursday at a feed company in Huanren County, Benxi City, a spokesman with the local government said on Friday.

The injured were being treated in hospital, he said, without giving details.

An investigation into the accident has been launched.
