HEFEI -- Eleven people are dead and five are injured after a collision between a bus and a truck in east China's Anhui Province, local authorities said on Wednesday.

The collision occurred at about 2:20 p.m. on Tuesday on a highway in Zhonghan Township, Juchao District, Chaohu City, a spokesman with the Chaohu municipal government said.

The injured were being treated in hospital, the spokesman said.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
