More than one out of six women said they had been sexually harassed while on Hong Kong's public transport last year.

Results of a telephone survey of 652 women by the New Century Forum from January 1 to 5 found that 17.6 percent of women had been sexually harassed. More than half of the alleged incidents took place on trains, including the subway and light rail. But only 7.8 percent of the victims said they confronted the perpetrators or asked for help. The forum called for the MTR, the subway system, to designate some cars as women-only during rush hours.
