Chinese Muslims will have direct charter flights to the holy city of Mecca for their annual pilgrimage this year.

The Chinese Patriotic Islamic Association has arranged 31 charter flights for the religious activity. Nearly ten thousand Muslims are prepared to participate, making this year's journey the largest ever in scale.

Yang Zhibo, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Patriotic Catholic Association, says the direct flights will make the trip more convenient and time-saving.

The charter flights will be operating between four Chinese cities and Saudi Arabia from November 29th to January 24th next year.

In addition, a medical team will accompany the pilgrams to ensure their health. Each of the buildings where the pilgrims will be accommodated will be equipped with an infirmary and an observation room, in case of any medical emergencies.

Meanwhile, a security team composed of over 40 people will also accompany with the pilgrims to ensure their safety.

Saudi Arabia has praised the Chinese Muslims' journey, saying it will bring the goodwill of the Chinese people to the world's Muslims.
