China urged the United States on Wednesday to resolve a dispute with North Korea over financial sanctions.

"It's affecting the progress of the six-party talks and we hope that it will be clarified and resolved as quickly as possible," Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao told reporters.

"Specifically how to resolve it is something you will have to ask the American side."

North Korea has objected to U.S. financial sanctions based on accusations it had counterfeited the U.S. currency and trafficked in drugs.
