Four Taiwan companies on list of world's top 500

A total of four Taiwan companies came out among the Financial Times' newly released list of the world's 500 largest global corporations, according to news reaching in Hong Kong from Taipei Tuesday.

The leading financial daily listed Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) as the highest ranking Taiwanese company, ranking 136th with a market value of 48.9 billion U.S. dollars.

TSMC's new classification was a jump of three notches over last year, followed by Hong Hai Precision Industry, Co., which was 277th, and Chunghwa Telecom and Nan Ya Plastics Corporation, ranked 419th and 482nd respectively.

Hong Hai ranked 426th last year, while Chunghwa Telecom and Nan Ya Plastics were classified 294th and 350th respectively.
