Cross-Straits trade volume decreases from Jan-Nov

Trade volume between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan was $94.35 billion between January and November, according to China's Ministry of Commerce. That was a 22.9 percent drop compared to the same period of the previous year.

The mainland's export to Taiwan amounted to $18.12 billion, decreasing by 25.1 percent year-on-year; while Taiwan's export to the mainland was $76.22 billion, a drop of 22.3 percent.

Chinese mainland authorities approved 2,237 projects invested by Taiwan businesses between January and November, a 6.9 percent increase year-on-year, but Taiwanese investment in the mainland dropped 5.5 percent to $1.62 billion.

Statistics also show that Taiwanese investment in the Chinese mainland accounted for 5.3 percent of the total overseas investment here as of the end of November 2009.
