The vanguard of GM's 'Green Future' marketing campaign, the Chevrolet Volt electric, will be sold in China as an import version priced at 498,000 yuan ($78,197), the manufacturer said.

The first to receive the Volt will be 13 dealers spreading across eight cities in the country, including Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Volt buyers will receive through personal service via their dealer to ensure no problems occur with their vehicle. Dealers can also perform free on-the-spot testing of prospective buyers' households to ensure they have suitable facilities to charge the vehicle. Members of GM's V Club, which is open to all Volt owners, also have access to a 24-hour a day dual-language service hotline.

Following the US, China has become a leading market for new energy and especially electric vehicles.
