Jan-Aug crude oil imports up 8.7%

China imported 120 million tons of crude oil in the eight months to August, up 8.7 percent year-on-year, the China Customs said.

August crude imports totaled 15.65 million tons, up from 14 million tons a year earlier.

The country imported 28.72 million tons of oil products during the January to August period, up 18.3 percent from a year earlier.

August oil product imports totaled 3.34 million tons, up from 2.53 million tons a year earlier.

China exported 2.22 million tons of crude oil in the first eight months, down 23.7 percent year-on-year, while August exports stood at 400,000 tons.

China also exported 10.93 million tons of oil products during January to August, up 6.3 percent from a year earlier, while August exports stood at 1.4 million tons.
