The queen of love songs, Teresa Teng, will be remembered this Valentine's Day when a unique concert given by the China Film Symphony Orchestra is performed at Zhongshan Concert Hall.
The concert will include classic tunes and melodies sung by the late Taiwan pop diva, which are popular with so many generations of Chinese.
As the most popular Chinese singer internationally, Teng continues to exert unprecedented influence on the Chinese pop scene with her music. Even though she has been dead for a decade, countless fans still regard her as their "eternal sweetheart".
"We're not the first orchestra interpret pop music," said orchestra conductor Fan Tao. "I've listened to the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and Japanese violinist Takako Nishizaki playing pop music and folk songs, to quite wonderful affect," he said. "They inspired us to follow in their footsteps."
A number of esteemed musicians will take part in the performance, including Ai Liqun, Wang Xiaofeng and Zhao Shijun. "As well as traditional orchestral instruments, we have a saxophone, percussion and some Chinese folk instruments like the sanxian to create a unique sound," said Fan.
The concert will include 20 classic songs, which used to be sung by Teresa Teng, including Moon Represents My Heart, Lovers' Tears, Cloud River and Story in a Small Town.
