China, US vow to building better business environment

WASHINGTON -- China and the United States on Tuesday promised to build more a favorable environment for businessmen from the two countries.

Vice-Premier Wang Qishan, State Councilor Dai Bingguo, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Secretary of Treasury Timothy Geithner, co-chairs of the third round of China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED), made the commitment at a roundtable meeting with Chinese and American entrepreneurs in Washington.

Wang told the meeting that the two-day dialogue, which concluded on Tuesday, was a great success thanks to joint efforts by both sides, including full supports from business communities of the two countries.

The success of the dialogue will provide new opportunities for cooperation between business communities of China and the US, he said.

Wang said that businesses and companies are a main force of China-US cooperation in economy and trade. He said China will work with the US to bring the S&ED platform into full play and build a more favorable environment for cooperation between the two countries' business communities.

Dai said that economic and trade cooperation plays an key role in the China-US relationship and any major progress in the field could draw the two countries closer together.

He believed that there is a vast potential for cooperation between the two economies. The business communities from both sides, he said, should seize the opportunities to utilize each other's advantages, strengthen cooperation, and make new contributions to promote cooperative partnership between the two countries based on mutual respect and mutual benefit.

Clinton and Geithner, for their parts, echoed remarks from Wang and Dai, saying that the US will work with China to create more favorable conditions for entrepreneurs to invest and do business in each other's countries.

The Chinese and American entrepreneurs participating in the roundtable meeting said that they will seize the good opportunities brought by the success of the third round of S&ED to expand bilateral cooperation, increase dialogues and communications with each other, and open a new page of mutual beneficial cooperation in economy and trade between the two countries.
