2m tickets to go on sale for 2010 Asian Games

Two million tickets will be available for worldwide sales and 87 percent of all tickets for the 2010 Asian Games will range from $1.5 to $58, organizers announced in Guangzhou on Wednesday.

Ticket prices for the opening and closing ceremonies range from 1,600 yuan ($ 234.24) to 6,800 yuan.

There will be more than two million tickets available to the public all over the world, as the 42 sports of the Games will take place in 53 venues.

According to Yuan Yue, deputy director of the Marketing Department of the Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (GAGOC) , ticket sales are divided into three stages and the first will start in January 2010.

GAGOC may adjust the launch time of each stage in accordance with the competition schedule, said Yuan.

Tickets can be purchased on the official ticketing website of the 16th Asian Games (tickets.gz2010.cn), at ticket outlets or at venue-based ticket booths during the Games.

Yuan also said that GAGOC will reserve some tickets for school students and youth athletes through an educational initiative to further the development of the Olympic Movement among youngsters.

GAGOC has set up a hotline (86-20-1258088) for ticketing inquiries.

The 2010 Asian Games will take place in "Flower City" of Guangzhou from Nov 12 to 27, 2010. More than 14,000 athletes, trainers and coaches from 45 countries and regions will compete in 42 sports.
