Vice Premier underscores trade, tourism in border areas

Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan has called for the accelerated development of trade and tourism in China's border areas to promote regional economies and social stability.

During an inspection tour in Inner Mongolia autonomous region on July 9 and 10, Wang said the development of border trade was important to fuel the country's economy, improve living standards and promote the openness of the border areas.

He called for efforts to push forward the renminbi settlement pilot program and step up construction of transport and logistics facilities in border areas in Inner Mongolia.

Cooperation with neighboring countries should be enhanced, and businesses should invest abroad, said Wang.
