Hong Kong stocks plunge 3.72% at midday

Hong Kong stocks narrowed its early losses but still plunged 585.44 points, or 3.72 percent, to finish Tuesday's morning session at 15,165.47, tracking Wall Street's sharp decline overnight.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index dived 485.32 points, or 4.35 percent, to open at half-day low 15,065.59 and trimmed its losses towards morning closing.

Half-day turnover totaled HK$33.18 billion ($4.28 billion).

Among 42 constituents of the Hang Seng Index, declining shares greatly outnumbered advancers 38 to 4.
