Baidu.com Inc, a Chinese-language Internet search provider, said in a statement that it appointed Nobuyuki Idei as an independent director, effective from June 14, 2007.

Idei is founder and CEO of Quantum Leaps Corp, a technology consulting firm, and served as chairman and CEO of Sony Corporation from 2000 to 2005.

Separately, Nasdaq-listed Baidu announced that Asad Jamal has resigned from its board, after serving three years as a director.
