It is estimated that online gaming in China will keep an annual growth rate of no less than 19% from 2005 to 2009, and there will be a fast growth in other electronic-entertainment-related industries, too.
Chinese original online games have taken most of the market share since last year. Din Lei, CEO of Netease Co,. Ltd, says that Chinese original online games perfectly meet the needs of Chinese gamers, and there is much room for them to grow.
Lei Jun, CEO of Kingsoft CO,. Ltd, says that the well-developed Internet has offered a good start for Chinese online games. Though Chinese online games have made big hits in Southeast Asian market due to similar culture and custom there, it still needs to solve the problems of singularity in themes and lack of connotation to win in a larger international market share. "International cooperation will inject some fresh blood to the local gaming industry," concluded Lei.
